Doctor Dave

Coming soon to your TV. Redemption. Life. Dave.

Dave Coulier for illandodd

My fascination with Dave Coulier goes deeper than is healthy. It was born into this world upon my face to face encounter with him back during my time at St. Joes.

Until now I've had no real way to consume the content machine that is Dave Coulier. I have no interest in the Full House reboot. Why would I watch that when he's just one of an ensemble of characters. More importantly reboots are soulless vehicles driven by a bunch of lazy goons.

I couldn't attempt to keep up with Dave on twitter either. The first problem there is I don't use it. The second problem is that from the looks of his top 15 posts I scrolled through, each one is about a personal loss of life of someone close to him. Even his dog. There's no joke to be had there. I guess it's a reminder that some people still use Twitter for other things than being assholes to one another. Why not grief?

Knowing that made what happened to me yesterday seem even more serendipitous.

Scrolling through my phone I stumbled upon an article that made me sit up straight.

Dave Coulier is getting his own vehicle to drive, and this one happens to be a drama.

I admit from my interaction with Dave around 15 years ago I have since carried a bemused enjoyment for him and his comedy. That doesn't mean I dislike him.

To my knowledge he's never been the lead star of a major TV show where everything has to rest on his shoulders. And to dive headfirst into drama and not comedy so late into his career is entirely fascinating to me.

Will he be able to combine a serious dramatic role about sick children with the unique wholesome humor he's known for? What kind of doctor will he be?

I'm pumped to find out how Dave ends up tackling this show. I have no idea how it will go but I'm honestly rooting for him.

I'll be doing an actual review of each episode as they're released without bias and without shitting all over it on impulse or conversely blowing smoke up his ass no matter what.

While Doctor Dave isn't in production yet my enthusiasm for it is endless.

Good luck Dave.
