Sound Stage: Petey USA

A man who gets weird, honest, down and up again in a single breath.

While I do spend a fair amount of time absolutely tearing some aspects of Spotify apart on a near daily basis (the shuffle, my fucking GOOOOOODDDDDD), I still encounter moments of such life stopping clarity that slap me in the face that only serve to reaffirm I'll never quit it. It still has its moments of glory.

Recently it's been harder for me to find the energy to walk upright in life considering the majority of my 37 years I've been able to laugh, drink, and stumble through it.

Petey USA coming through the Discover Weekly can only be what I would call a welcome understanding that other individuals are in fact dealing with shit as well.

Sure, it could be recency bias, but I've never so quickly and fully connected with any artists music before. To me, Petey brings a cathartic release of frustration through lyrics (and videos) that are weird, thoughtful, and most importantly, sincere.

At this moment in my life, I'm grateful to have stumbled upon his music (and glad his latest album, The Yips, just dropped). I feel good.

Best Time to Listen

In the car during your long ass commute or in a loud bar where you don't even attempt to communicate to your friend you just nod at each other (hey, look at us) and sip your beer in a dignified manner.
