Is New Emo, Emo? Man, shit, I don't fucking know, but if feels like a yes.

I have my co-editor to thank for my introduction during freshman year of college to emo, scene, screamo, wineo, and many other genres I didn't grow up with. I was shocked to discover there was more out there than the 14 CD's my brother left in his room when he moved out.
Emo music has a special place in my heart from many late night jams and short distance-long travel time rides to campus. Also, Matt was the frontman for a few bands and was well know for emoting.
Hot Mulligan seemingly knows exactly where they fit into music as their Spotify tagline is "We invented Post-Emo". Apt.
Listening to them with the volume slightly too loud for my aging ears makes me forget that my knees hurt and my election of benefits is upcoming.
They've mastered catchy upbeat tunes all to the perfect harmonies of not quite scremo, but hanging around that border. Stumbling upon them and finding a host of songs that are fresh to me yet transport me back to my youth has been most welcome.
Best Time to Listen
At a Fishtown Bar when someone you don't really have an interest in talking to is leaning in way to close and is attempting to share their life story but is successfully drowned out.
