Oddball: Week 10 NFL Bets

Kirk and Matt get $100 each per week and go head-to-head to see who can light the most money on fire betting the NFL this season.

Your favorite Disappointing Duo is back for another week of trying not to go broke before the Super Bowl. We've been burning incense and praying to Taranis since Sunday night. Hopefully we've cleansed the dark juju and will make at least one correct pick this week.


Our rules are simple:


  • Each of us gets $100 to bet every week.

  • We must bet the entire $100.

  • Picks go up Thursday, recaps on Tuesday.

  • Only bets that resolve that week (no futures).

  • Loser does the TB12 diet for a week


Any weekly profit can be banked and rolled forward. Any portion of the $100 you don’t lose stays in your total, but you can’t reuse it.


Now that the rules preamble is over, let’s get to the picks — hopefully they look sharper than Jordan Love's pocket awareness.

I'm still in a dark place after last week's drubbing and work has been rougher than watching the Titans offense. So we're going to be brief today. My most sincere apologies to the throngs of loyal readers who I have let down.


Broncos (-8.5)

Straight Up ATS (-115)

  • Broncos will be focused with a chance to put a stranglehold on the AFC West

  • Rare Thursday night play for me, but Raiders are cooked

  • Teams playing on Thursday after an overtime game (Raiders) are 6-25 against the spread since 2002

Straight Up ATS (-110)

  • Baker will be nice and rested coming off of his bye week

  • Pats haven't played anyone good in a month (Falcons, Browns, Titans, and Saints)

  • Drake Maye hype has hit a fever pitch... FADE

Straight Up ATS (-115)

  • Texans are home dog in their own division in pretty much a must-win game

  • Jags have no receivers and can't block, won't fare well against Texans defense

  • Any time you can wager on Davis Mills, you have to do it

  • Steelers dominant defensive front vs. Chargers non-existent offensive line

  • There will be 75% Steelers fans in Los Angeles for this one

  • Rodgers loves the liberal drug policy in California, will boost morale

Move The Odds To Cover My Losses Parlay (+585)

Ravens -4.5, Rams -4.5, Cardinals @ Seahawks Over 44.5

  1. I do not trust J.J. McCarthy. Yes, the Vikings defense exploded my bet last week but Jared Goff is a statue in the pocket and his linemen couldn't hold up. I like a Ravens team playing with renewed energy and in clear F You mode with Lamar under center who knows a scramble isn't just eggs.

  2. Total coinflip game here with the Rams. Every time I've bet them they've scored 7 points and slipped on their own dicks. Surely, I am due. Surely, it's time for one of their seemingly more common old man Stafford win by 21 points show outs.

  3. The riskiest of the three in my mind. The Cardinals coming off a QB switch win against the Cowboys may make them prime for an emotional slump. But I mean it was only the Cowboys so hopefully not. They looked competent and I like the lower points total here to hopefully be carried by the resurgent Darnold.


As I stated above, these losses are getting out of hand. It's time to increase the odds each week to clear it away in the blink of an eye.
